you will find the article in the november 28, 2001 edition of the newspaper in the "opinion" section.

i am seriously considering finding out what is involved in putting together a lawsuit against the wts.
one that all xjw's in the us can join in.. has the wts not violated our civil rights, taken away our right to choose, without bias, how to live our lives?
were not our rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness violated?
Religions have a lot of latitude when it comes to what they want to practice. The US constitution provides for freedom of religion and courts are very reluctant to get involved.
On a personal level I am with you. If you can find precedent then go for it. It would likely take lots of money to get highly competent attorney to take the case, unless the ACLU became interested. Can you make this issue “politically correct” somehow? Remember, the WTS gets its lawyers for free.
Good luck!

you guys are probably going to think this is silly of me, but i have always wondered why the society, in the nwt and all of their literature always uses the term "undeserved kindness" and never the term "grace.
" is it because the churches of christendom use the term grace, therefore it is bad?.
i know that undeserved kindness is suppose to mean the same as grace, but is it really?
No one commented on the definitions I posted above, so let me. I’ll repeat them here:
Kindness:
1. The quality or state of being kind.
2. An instance of kind behavior: I will always remember your many kindnesses to me.
Grace:
1. Divine love and protection bestowed freely on people. The state of being protected or sanctified by the favor of God
2. An excellence or power granted by God.
The word “kindness” seems to me to be somewhat sterile. The expression “undeserved kindness” could be a single act such as sparing one’s life through Armageddon. It tends to “put down” the one receiving the kindness because of their unworthiness.
Grace, on the other hand, includes love and therefore protection. Loving protection usually does not have limits. The loving giver does not want to lower the self esteem of the recipient
The definition of Grace I quoted above with the: “state of being protected or sanctified by the favor of God” might sound too much like the state of being “saved” for the GB’s comfort. The WT certainly does not want to give those religions any ammunition for their “once saved always saved” doctrine.
I like the term “Grace.” The virtues of God’s Grace are extolled in the Hymn “Amazing Grace,” one of the most beautiful songs ever written, IMHO.
Note: It doesn’t hurt that the prettiest girl I dated in High School was named Grace. I understand that she still sings in the choir of the Methodist church.

Looks like a lot of difference to me in the two transplations
Kindness:
1. The quality or state of being kind.
2. An instance of kind behavior: I will always remember your many kindnesses to me.
Grace:
1. Divine love and protection bestowed freely on people. The state of being protected or sanctified by the favor of God

the year is circa 1994 san antonio texas.
i am sitting in a meeting of elders, ministerial servants and circuit overseer waschak (sp?).
the final topic of a form letter from the society is sexual abuse.
Hello Victor,
In my experience JWs are far too free with medical advice. It seems that the more ignorant one is the freer he/she is with opinions on such subjects.
Once, when I was too sick to attend meetings during the CO’s visit, he called me Sunday evening (never did come by my house to visit) to suggest that I see a “brother” about 90 miles away about my illness. Seems this “brother” was a laboratory technician. I had an excellent physician and I would get better, but my condition (hepatitis) required bed rest for a few weeks.
This ignorant CO assumed that a witness lab technician would be of more help than a well trained M.D. Such ignorance!
The Wt.’s advice regarding immune therapy, mental health and transfusion therapy is nothing short of barbaric. The latest scandal regarding sexual abuse follows the same WT pattern of criminal incompetence.

i have a friend who has had cfs for ten years.
he is on traditional treatments, but they never seem so work out.
it takes him weeks to get over a mild case of the flu.
You said: “He's already been to all the doctors…” Is this really true? I notice that you are from the “Congo, Democratic Republic of.” Is he also located there? If so, I have not idea what medical care is like.
If you were in the USA I’d ask of he has he been to one of the truly fine University Medical Centers for evaluation? There are also fine centers located throughout Europe and Asia with which I am familiar. If he has only seen local physicians it is possible that a trip elsewhere might be fruitful.
The alternatives usually result only in extra expense and disappointment.

Hello Roy,
My condolences on your most difficult situation. For starters I recommend the book Combating Cult Mind Control by Steve Hassen. Steve is a foremost authority on the subject of his book. Randy Watters of www.freeminds.org has worked with Steve (if my memory is correct) and may also be of some help.
Steve has a web site too, I think, and if you find him. I’m sure he will offer some help/suggestions.
My best wishes for success.
